An afternoon with York Youth Orchestra

The York Youth Orchestra is the premier ensemble for talented young musicians aged 11-18 from York and the surrounding area. Founded to provide a high-level orchestral experience for aspiring performers, the orchestra has grown in stature, regularly performing at prestigious venues and tackling ambitious repertoire under the guidance of conductor, Ben Crick, who brings his passion and expertise to every performance
For their 2025 performance at the magnificent Selby Abbey, the orchestra will present an evocative programme that journeys through landscapes and emotions. The evening begins with Mendelssohn’s dramatic Hebrides Overture, capturing the rugged beauty of Scotland’s shores, followed by Elgar’s lyrical Sea Pictures, featuring the exceptional mezzo-soprano Anna Burford as soloist. The programme concludes with Dvorak’s dramatic and intimate Symphony No. 7.
Join the York Youth Orchestra for an unforgettable afternoon celebrating the power of youth, artistry, and timeless music.
