Selby Abbey Tour

Dates and times of our free Selby Abbey guided tours can be found here. We offer these tours on a free basis with the hope of making our history and heritage accessible to all. All donations are welcomed and encouraged to support the upkeep of the Abbey.

In this tour you will uncover the Abbey’s hidden gems with our professionally trained volunteer guides. Explore the Abbey’s resilience through the centuries discovering stained glass, including the famous Washington Window, beautiful architecture, and hidden quirks such as disguised carvings, lepers squint and mason’s marks.

Tower Tours

From time to time we are pleased to offer a Guided Tour of our Central Tour. Our Tower Tours are available on a booked basis only, at a cost of £8 per person.  You will be guided by an Abbey Tour guide and bellringer to experience the sites of Selby town, as well as seeing our bells, ringing chamber and clock.

No children under the age of 8 are permitted, and all children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Access to the tower roof will not be permitted in wet or windy weather.

Further details of tours and to book can be found through our Eventbrite page.

If there is not a date that suits your preference you can contact us to see if a specially arranged tour is possible.
