The band have performed with several other ensembles including the National Flute Orchestra and The Yorkshire Imperial Brass Band.

As an experienced director and performer John Turnbull led HWB to achieve Platinum status at the National Concert Band regional event in November 2023. This was the first time the band had taken part in the festival and secured them a place at the national event in Warwick in March 2024 where they gained a gold award. Adjudicators, Simon Hogg and Gerard Booth congratulated Huddersfield Wind Band on their choice of repertoire and for performing ‘a most enjoyable concert’ with ‘virtuosic playing’.

Continuing their success HWB achieved Platinum status at the NCBF again in November 2024 at the regional event. Adjudicator Simone Rebello congratulated HWB on the ‘ebb and flow’ of the programme which had a ‘great selection of repertoire’.  Subsequently, Huddersfield Wind Band will exhibit their musical talent at the Royal Northern College of Music in April this year at the national festival.

Huddersfield Wind Band is a combination of wonderful solo playing as well as a blended and balanced sound as a whole band. Huddersfield Wind Band delivers a well-crafted performance at concerts. A performance from this established and talented group of musicians should certainly not be missed.
